COACHING STAFF

Meet your coaches

HEAD COACH
Nick Johnson

Head coach of his sons’ baseball and basketball teams for six years — 12 seasons from t-ball through 7th–8th grade. A former all-star pitcher and catcher, Nick runs a firm program with clear standards and a knack for connecting with players and translating the game to their level.

“A good culture is the steering on a car. It guides your development and leads to winning.”

ASSISTANT COACH
Jason Klann

Nick’s coaching partner for four seasons, plus assistant experience in the Plainfield league. A business owner and business coach, Jason focuses on leadership, teamwork, and building teams that punch above their talent.

“The right culture makes everything else fall into place — it promotes development, and development leads to winning.”

ASSISTANT COACH
Junior Aguirre

Played from age five through high school, college ball, and men’s league into his thirties. Junior has coached Aurora’s 16U Legion league and Yorkville rec (ages 7–12), bringing deep game knowledge and a clear sense of what it takes to reach the high school level.

“Play 100% on every pitch, be a great teammate — and it’s ok to fail.”

ASSISTANT COACH
B.J. Marland

Three years assistant coaching plus a season as head coach in the Yorkville Park District (ages 10–14). B.J. measures success by growth — the win is watching a player master something they struggled with at the start of the season.

“Once you build development and culture, the winning comes as a result of the hard work.”

ASSISTANT COACH
Dan Transier

Played into his freshman year of college and has coached seven years at Yorkville Parks & Recreation, from t-ball through 7th–8th grade. Patient and development-first, Dan keeps the game fun while pushing players to grow.

“When teams win but kids don’t improve, it defeats the purpose. Development always takes priority.”

THE PROGRAM

What this season looks like

Fall 2026 (Optional)

Depending on player availability, the team may run a limited Fall 2026 season for additional reps and team building heading into Spring.

Spring 2027 Kickoff

Training begins January 2027 on the indoor turf at the Foxes facility inside Go For It Sports Dome — the home base for skill work, drills, and live reps through the winter.

Local League + Tournament

The Spring season runs a local league with a league championship tournament, plus friendly competition selected to fit the team’s needs.

Forge-Backed Development

Significant training and development supported by the YYBSA Forge Model: Person → Competitor → Player. Built before built up.

Tournament Schedule

The team typically plays 5–7 tournaments across the season, with 1–2 of those being overnight travel events so players experience higher-level competition.
